The new title, which comes via South Korean subscription video-on-demand service TVING, has been garnering attention, especially among international fans, since it was first announced back in 2023. What is Love in the Big City about?
The Love in the Big City K-dramais based on Park Sangyoung bestselling novel of the same name from 2019. An English translation by Anton Hur was published in 2021, with the book being longlisted for the International Booker Prize in 2022. The Love in the Big City novel follows the story of a young gay man who lives with HIV as he navigates life and love in Seoul alongside his female best friend, Jaehee.

Park's Love in the Big City has actually gotten two screen adaptations this year: a film starring Kim Goeun and Noh Sanghyun that premiered at TIFF and the K-drama this article is about.
The show's official synopsis is as follows: “Go Young, a gay Korean man, lives with Mi Ae, a straight woman. Through Mi Ae's eyes, Go Young embarks on a journey of personal growth. He struggles with his relationship with his mother, who's in denial about his sexual orientation and is forced to part ways with his lover Gyu Ho due to societal pressure. Recovering from his breakup, Go Young takes a trip to Thailand with a stranger and manages to learn more about himself in the process. Can Go Young reach the personal enlightenment he desires?”

Who is in the cast of Love in the Big City?
Love in the Big City stars Nam Yoonsu, whom you might recognize from The King's Affection and Netflix's Extracurricular, as Go Young. The series cast also features Kwon Hyuk, Na Hyunwoo, and All of Us Are Dead's Jin Hoeun as Go Young’s love interests throughout the years. Additional cast includes Kim Wonjoong, Lee Sookyung, and Oh Hyunkyung.

How many episodes will Love in the Big City have?
Love in the Big City will have eight episodes in total, each one with an average runtime of 50 minutes. Like the book, the story will be divided into four acts, each corresponding to a period of Go Young's life. Each story arc will span two episodes.
Unlike most K-dramas, which usually feature one director throughout the entire run, the episodes of Love in the Big City have been helmed by a team of directors that includes Heo Jinho, Hong Jiyoung, Son Taekyeom, and Kim Sein.

Is there a trailer for Love in the Big City
TVING released the official trailer for Love in the Big City ahead of the show's premiere in late October. However, following homophobic complaints from conservative organizations in South Korea, the trailer has since been taken down from the streamer's official accounts. That said, the trailer is also still up on Park Sangyoung's Instagram account and you can also watch a subtitled version on Viki.
Park denounced the removal of the trailers on his Instagram, asking fans to support the show when it premieres and lamenting not been able to properly promote it like it deserves in the leadup to its release.
